Home page visibility fixes

Remember when I said I would make the group headings more visible? I've been thinking about that, and I have six demos for you all to choose from. If none of them are acceptable, then I'll start over. Please do let me know which you all like the best.

Shady
Goldie
Liney (the most simple)

Shady-underline
Goldie-underline
Liney-double (probably the worst)

Of these, my favorites are "Goldie-underline" and "Shady."

• Also, if anyone's wondering why the other old reference page is around, I have it there because I will make an example of it at my LLA presentation as something that "seemed like a good idea at the time," since I remember why I liked it and how I came to not like it anymore. After LLA, it will be gone forever.

I agree - I like "Goldie-underline." I actually don't mind "Liney-double." I'm not so sure about "Shady." You do love your gradients, don't you? ;)

Karen,
I like Goldie the best. Where did you come up with that name?

I like Shady-Underline best, then probably Shady, followed by Goldie-underline.

My only objection to the goldies is that the gold seems not quite right--it contrasts with the predominant gray but doesn't seem to clearly pick up anything else.

Definitely NOT anything with actual lines, though (Liney or double-liney)--confusing, as the headings are not links.

Kudos--much accomplished with a little bit of change!

On second thought, I guess the goldies do pick up the block of color at the bottom of the page, so I'm okay with Shady-Underline or Goldie-Underline, if folks like those best.

I like goldie, it is simple and stands out but not too bold.

So far, it seems that the Goldie and Shady types are liked the most. Karen C. is absolutely correct about not using underlining, so the "liney" ones are right out.

I'll probably ask for a more decisive vote later, but until then I'll just look at them on different monitors, which makes a big difference.

Megan:
I do, but not as much as I used to. I tried it with solids and they didn't look right.

Don:
I call it "Goldie" because it has a lighter version of the official ULM gold #72653e :)
